Last full day in Tokyo

When we were still in Osaka, we bought really nice grapes and two really nice persimmons. By now, we had finished the grapes but still had both our persimmons. We ate half a persimmon each for breakfast (super juicy), and then took the metro to Kiyosumi Gardens (a Japanese garden which was ~$1 to get in).

We walked around the gardens a bit, taking some photos along the way (there were some fun pathways without rails across the water which were fun to walk across).

From the gardens, we went to get noodles at Tokyo Aburagumi Sohoten Uenogumi (the same vending machine chain we had gone to during our first stint in Tokyo, but in a different location; Lucy was a big fan). We then went back to Akihabara Electric Town to see more of the electronics stored (since we were there during the day, more of the microcontrollers/hardware stores were open, so we could browse).

We then took a train to Asakusa to get a snack from a place that a friend had recommended. Asakusa ended up being super touristy, but the snack place was good ( Asakusa Menchi). We also passed by a dorayaki place that was super popular and far enough outside of the touristy section that we decided the ~20-minute line was worth the wait. After getting the dorayaki from Kamejuu (we saved it for later and did not eat it at this point), we went back to our hotel to rest for a bit.

From the hotel, we went and got sushi for dinner at Sushidai. This was omakase again, and some highlights were:

  • Fatty tuna belly

  • Uni (sea urchin)

Since this was our last night, we decided to go to another cocktail bar. We ended up going to Twenty Eight, which was at the top of the Conrad Hotel. The drinks and views were good, but overall this was much more expensive, and overall our rooftop bar experience from the start of the trip was better.

After the bar, we metroed back to our hotel, packed, and slept.
