Today, we still had a bit of time (our flight out wasn’t until 5:30 pm), so we woke up, finished packing (Lucy had to rearrange some items so that her suitcase would be under the weight limit), ate our final persimmon, ate some of our dorayaki, and then checked out (we left our luggage at the hotel for the day).
Note: After eating the dorayaki, Benton realized that it was literally just bean paste in between two pancakes. After arriving back in New York, he made a version of this (by making pancakes and putting paste in between them), and honestly couldn’t tell the difference. He will probably add this into the regular breakfast rotation 🥞🫘😋.
During this trip, Benton and Lucy managed to acquire some Korean sunscreen, which worked very well during our day of biking (Benton didn’t even turn pink). However, we wanted to get a few more bottles before going back (since it is so much cheaper in Japan).
We tried walking to a few places to buy the sunscreen, but couldn’t find it, so we took the metro to Shin-Okubo Korea Town and successfully got a few bottles at the Don Quijote.
For lunch, we got more tonkatsu at Katsushin, before picking up our bags from the hotel and heading to the airport. Our flights were uneventful (Benton enjoyed that we landed in Minneapolis before we took off in Japan because of the time zone change), and we arrived in New York on time.
Fun trip 🇯🇵
